Use this address with your mapquest or other similar programs. When you get to Birkett Mills the rear parking lot is also the Put-in for the Outlet.

 

 Keuka Outlet from the Village of Penn Yan to the Take out #1. 

Take Out # 1 is about 1 mile from the Unrunnable water falls.

Note:  This is about a four mile class II run.  It is not suitable for beginner/novice level paddlers.

Directions to the PUT-IN in Penn Yan from Buffalo New York
Approximate drive time is a little over two hours
  • From Buffalo NY, take the New York State Thruway to the Canandaigua exit (#44). Follow route 332 South to Canandaigua, 15-20 min. At the South end of Canandaigua you will pick up route 5 & 20 East. You should be going towards Geneva. About 10 miles out side of Canandaigua you will come to Route 14A.
  • Follow 14-A South to Penn Yan
  • In Penn Yan go past the P&C food market (on Left) and turn East (Left) at the A Plus Sunoco Station
  • Turn Right again at Main Street.
  • Turn left at the next light. Birkit Mills will be on the corner. If you go past this you will cross the bridge over the outlet. At this point go back to the light and turn East.
  • At the end of the Birkit Mills complex turn Right down the hill into the parking lot. This is the put in for the Outlet.
Directions to the PUT-IN in Penn Yan from Southwestern New York and beyond
Approximate drive time is 3 hours plus from Jamestown NY
  • From South-Western New York State and beyond follow Route 17 East to Interstate 86 South. From 86 South exit at Bath and take Route 54 North to Penn Yan.
  • In Penn Yan follow Route 14-A North to the A Plus Sunoco Station and turn East (right).
  • Turn Right again at Main street.
  • Turn left at the next light. Birkit Mills will be on the corner. If you go past this you will cross the bride over the outlet. At this point go back to the light and turn East.
  • At the end of the Birkit Mills complex turn Right down the hill into the parking lot. This is the put in for the Outlet

 

Directions to the PUT-IN in Penn Yan from Southeastern New York and beyond
Approximate drive time is 3 hours plus from Binghamton NY or State College PA
  • From Southeastern New York State and beyond follow Route 17 West to Route 86 West, exit at the Bath exit and take Route 54 North to Penn Yan.
  • In Penn Yan follow Route 14-A North to the A Plus Sunoco Station and turn East (right).
  • Turn Right again at Main street.
  • Turn left at the next light. Birkit Mills will be on the corner. If you go past this you will cross the bride over the outlet. At this point go back to the light and turn East.
  • At the end of the Birkit Mills complex turn Right down the hill into the parking lot. This is the put in for the Outlet
Directions to the Put-in from Southern New York and beyond
  • From Southern New York State below Painted Post and beyond follow Route 15 North to Route 86 West, from Route 86 West exit at Bath and take Route 54 North to Penn Yan.
  • In Penn Yan follow Route 14-A North to the A Plus Sunoco Station and turn East (right).
  • Turn Right again at Main street.
  • Turn left at the next light. Birkit Mills will be on the corner. If you go past this you will cross the bride over the outlet. At this point go back to the light and turn East.
  • At the end of the Birkit Mills complex turn Right down the hill into the parking lot. This is the put in for the Outlet
Directions to TAKE-OUT #1
Exit the Put-in parking lot and turn right, (East) and follow this road to a stop sign, then keep to the Right and stay on Outlet Road until you come to a opening on the Right that has room for about 10 cars. This is the first take out and it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get there by boat. The driving distance takes about 5 min. This is also about 1 mile from the first, non-runable falls.
