May 11, 2006  Kayak Adventures Status Update

 1 Owasco Outlet  - New York Rivers United director Bruce Carpenter is currently looking at the Owasco Outlet relative to recreational releases.  To date no progress has been made.  Don't look for any releases in the near future.  The lake level was lowered to below summer level.  What this means is that the person controlling the lake now can refuse to honor any request for releases because the lake level is to low.

 2  Construction Of Competition/Training Course at Rock Park  -  Frontier Communictions has notified me that the materials are in.  The permits are in place and this coming week we will be finalizing the plans for the building of the course.  Those interested in helping with the project please notify Art Miller by email at (rockpark@rochester.rr.com).  Help is always needed and welcomed as there is much to do to transform this beautiful area into a family recreation facility.

 3  Rockpark permits are ready.  -  The City of Rochester and RG&E have requested that the paddlers using the Park sign a WAIVER prior to using the park.  You can download the form from the Registration page and mail it to Kayak Adventures.  Use the folling link to access the waiver form.    Registration Permit

 4  New concept for Introduction to Kayaking Programs.  -  Kayak Adventures and the Monroe Community College Aquatic Staff have now expanded their partnership ti include the Summer season.   All of our weekend Introduction to Kayaking programs will start at the College pool for three hours of clean water and guaranteed good weather on Friday nights followed by a full day on the river at Rochester Canoe and kayak Park.  The first program will be run on Memorial dat weekend.  Contact Kayak Adventures for details.  Email - rockpark@rochester.rr.com  Phone  585-377-1994.

 5 Keuka Outlet  -  Cleanup teams now have the entire Outlet open.  As always whenever you are paddling the Outlet look for the hazzard signs and follow the instructions as posted.
