Manchester-Shortsville Wildwater Derby Slalom and Sprint Races

Many different types of boats entered last year. 

Open Canoes, Racing Kayaks, Two person Canoe's and Recreation Kayaks all ran the Slalom and Sprint course to test their skill.

 

Slalom course has about 20 gates on class II/III water and the Sprint starts above Littleville Falls (7foot drop) and finishes at the bridge.

Late Registration will be accepted  at the Race Information Booth located at 1455 Pioneer Road, Shortsville NY 14548 on Friday April 29 after 12 noon.   All day Saturday April 30th or before 11:00am on Sunday just prior to the start of the race.   Call 585-704-2372 for information.

 NOTE:  The 25$ Fee gives you entry into both the Slalom and the Sprint Race.  See Registration forms for more information regarding each race.   If you do not see your class on the from, contact the race organizer.

This coming weekend is the Wild Water Derby on the Canandaigua Outlet.  Kayak Adventures helps host the event for the Shortsville Chamber of Commerce.  All the money collected goes back to the Village to help with community projects.   A portion comes back to Kayak Adventures to support our ongoing kids programs.

Please be aware that there are abundant quantities of poison ivy.  With the rain this week the area is very wet and muddy.  Bring proper shoes or boots in case you need them.  Please be aware that if flooding cannot be controlled the race will be cancelled.

If that happens I will resend this note with additional information.  The river is running now and will not be turned off again until lake levels are stable.  The outlet flow will be reduced on Friday and thru the weekend.  We should have a flow comparable to what we have had in previous years.   Because the Outlet is running very high and will not be reduced in flow until Friday the schedule will be slightly different from the original one three weeks ago.

Friday:  

 

We will be putting the gates up and  finishing the setup of the course.  The Outlet will still be very high, so the final placement of gates will not take place until Saturday after the Derby Raft Race.

 

Saturday:

 

Mill Drop sprint practice 8am to 9am

Mill Drop racers meeting 9:30 am  (on bridge-Littleville)

Mill Drop race (10am)

You can register up to 30min before the start of the race.

 

Wild Water Derby Downriver race 11am (meet at start to the

        Left of Bridge-Littleville)

 

Slalom practice (one hour after the end of Raft Race) (Meet at the Bridge-Littleville)

 

Sunday:

 

Slalom practice  8am till 12noon

Racers meeting 12:30am    Pioneer Road Race Info booth

Race Starts at 1pm.
